Verification is a routine, not a talent

You do not need to become a security expert. You need a small, repeatable routine that you use whenever money or access is involved.

The routine

• Stop. Create a short delay before responding.
• Check. Use a channel you chose yourself, such as the official app or a number on your card.
• Confirm. Ask a second person if the request is unusual or urgent.
• Record. Keep the message and note what happened.

Applying it to daily life

The same routine covers a payment request, a job offer, an investment, and a call from your bank. Because it does not change, it is easy to remember under stress.

Scenario

A supplier emails to change bank details. Instead of replying, you call the supplier on the number already in your records. They confirm the change is fake, and no money is lost.

A note on being helpful

Verification is not rudeness. Saying "let me check and call you back" protects both you and the person you are dealing with. Genuine contacts will understand.
